The NOMAD Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating senior

  • Meet one of the following academic standards:

    • 3.20 cumulative GPA

    • Top 25% of class

    • ACT score of 21 or SAT score of 1000 (Math & Reading)

  • Participate in two sports for at least two years in each

  • Earn at least one varsity letter in each sport

  • Submit a completed application and essay

  • Provide a letter of recommendation from the athletic director

  • Attend a school where the athletic director is a NOMAD member

All applications must be signed by the principal or athletic director to verify academic information.

Required Essay

Applicants must submit a one-page essay responding to:

“What is the importance of having minority representation in athletic leadership?”

Applications and essays must be submitted by November 1 of the current academic year.

The NOMAD Scholarship is more than financial assistance. It is an investment in leadership, character, and the next generation of student-athletes who will shape our communities.

Each year, NOMAD recognizes outstanding high school senior student-athletes who demonstrate academic achievement, athletic excellence, leadership, and strong citizenship.

The scholarship reflects NOMAD’s commitment to supporting young people and strengthening the future of athletic leadership through opportunity and representation.

2026 Scholarship Information

The 2026 National Athletic Directors Conference will be held in Phoenix, Arizona.

  • Applicants must reside in Arizona.

  • Applications will be distributed to participating schools in September.

  • Selected students will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

  • Winners will be honored at their high school during a NOMAD presentation in front of the student body.
